Save Your Appetite for Taste of the Bayou 2015!

September 11th, 2015 by Corey A. Edwards

Taste of the Bayou 2015Are you a fan of fine, fresh, southern seafood? Then get set for 27th annual Taste of the Bayou – held September 26th, 2015 in Irvington, AL. This popular, annual seafood contest sees cooking teams competing for the coveted title using only fresh Bayou La Batre seafood as their base – and your taste buds get to play judge!

You may be familiar with the town of Bayou La Batre for a number of pop-culture reasons: it was featured in both the book and film of “Forrest Gump;” it played initial harbor for the Black Pearl galleon, seen in Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” film series; and the Bayou La Batre’s seafood industry served as centerpiece for the History channel’s popular “Big Shrimpin'” documentary series.

But Bayou La Batre’s real claim to fame is tied more closely to this latter reference than any other – and that’s because Bayou La Batre is a historical Gulf Coast fishing village famous for its local fishing/shrimping fleet and seafood-processing. So much fresh seafood comes through Bayou La Batre that it’s known as the Seafood Capital of Alabama.
