Soak Up 3 Days of Live Music At TenSixtyFive Music Festival 2017!

TenSixtyFive Music Festival 2017The third annual TenSixtyFive Music Festival is almost here! This year’s three-day live music extravaganza in downtown Mobile is scheduled for September 29th through October 1st, 2017!

Join the crowd at the free 1065 Music Fest, a laid back street party celebrating music, local art, and Downtown Mobile. This year’s headliners include Cage The Elephant, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, and Blackberry Smoke!

The annual TenSixtyFive Music Festival brings numerous bands, local artists, and craftspeople to downtown Mobile. Gates open each day at 1pm to allow folks a chance to peruse the arts and crafts vendors and/or pick a nice spot form which to watch their favorite band.

Located on the Fowl River, in Theodore, AL, this once private estate is well known for its immaculate grounds. Along with a lush 65 acres and historic home, Bellingrath hosts numerous events throughout the year like Wonderful Wednesdays.

Grand Bay Watermelon Festival 2016

Grand Bay Watermelon Festival 2016It’s time for the annual Grand Bay Watermelon Festival once again – July 3rd and 4th, 2016 – providing you an opportunity to enjoy some delicious Alabama-grown watermelon as well as live music, arts & crafts, and more!

Held in part to pay homage to Grand Bay’s farmers, in part to celebrate the delicious, thirst quenching watermelon namesake, the Grand Bay Watermelon Festival has been a local, Independence Day tradition since 1973. The festival actually goes back at least as far as 1949 but died out for a number of years before being revived in the early 70’s. Popular and now held to coincide with our nation’s Fourth of July celebrations, this beloved local event has been going strong ever since.

Mobile, Alabama Welcomes the Distinguished Young Women

Distinguished Young Women LogoWe are happy to welcome the Distinguished Young Women to Mobile! Their 2015 event is being held at the Mobile Civic Center just across the street from the historic MalagaInn in downtown Mobile, Alabama. The Distinguished Young Women is an organization that opens opportunities to young women all over the country raising as much as $359 million in scholarship money. The organization was founded  in Mobile in 1958 as the America’s Junior Miss Program but has roots dating back to the 1920’s when the Junior Mobile Chamber of Commerce known as the Jaycee’s began city wide “beautification”  projects focusing on the abundance of azaleas we have in the port city. The organization officially changed it’s name to Distinguished Young Women in 2010.

Programs of Distinguished Young Women include Be Your Best Self which encourages children to excel in areas of civic duty, character, academia and reminds them not to give in to peer pressure; also encourages healthy living and ambition.

Participation is based on 5  categories: Scholastics, Interview, Talent, Fitness, Self-Expression. Once a participant has won at local level they then move on to state and then the nationals which is held at the Civic Center in beautiful downtown Mobile, Alabama.
