New Year’s Eve 2018 marks the 10th annual MoonPie Over Mobile celebration in downtown Mobile. Over 50,000 people spend their New Year’s Eve in Mobile every year and this year should be no exception. In fact the crowds may be even even larger than usual.

Why?

MoonPie Over Mobile isn’t just celebrating its own 10th anniversary, it’s also the official kick-off to the Alabama Bicentennial!

Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival 2017The Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival, scheduled for July 24th to August 12th, 2017, brings an eclectic lineup of world-renowned jazz artists and up-and-coming acts to Mobile, AL.

The Gulf Coast Ethnic & Heritage Jazz Festival (GCEHJF) is a collection of jazz-related events that span more than a month. This Gulf Coast tradition is all about spreading the message of jazz music to anyone and everyone with ears and a pulse.

Festival organizers are quick to point out that “ethnic” means everybody and “heritage” is not some fixed point in the past. Inclusion and appreciation is what it’s all about!

The Festival begins in July with Marcus Johnson Summer Jazz Camp, a dynamic, 10-day learning experience, focusing on the history and fundamentals of Jazz. Though primarily begun for school-aged players, students have ranged in age from 6 to seniors. The session is capped off with a Summer Jazz Camp Recital that may surprise you as much as it entertains. These “students” can really play!
