The Mobile-Tensaw Delta is a fascinating place where five rivers come together into Mobile Bay. When the Mobile, Spanish, Tensaw, Apalachee, and Blakeley rivers flow into Mobile Bay, it’s a collision of fresh and salt water. This mix of waters creates a rare environment for all manner of unique plants and animals.

The delta includes some 250,000 acres of scenic waterways, woods, and wetlands. This habitat supports over 500 types of plants, 126 species of fish, and more than 300 species of birds. 30 species of amphibians, 69 species of reptiles, and 40 species of mammals also call the delta home.

5 Rivers Delta Resource Center is located in Spanish Fort, AL. The center encompasses over 81 acres of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta for you to explore in a variety of ways. There are trails to hike, places to picnic, and endless photo opportunities.

The Dauphin Island Sea Lab is the state of Alabama’s marine science research and education center. The facility has been conducting marine science research and education for over 40 years. Thanks to the Estuarium, you don’t have to be a marine scientist or student to experience this fascinating world.
