A beautiful example of a pre-Civil War, southern home, the Historic Oakleigh House Museum in the Oakleigh Historic Complex is considered one of the rarest examples of Greek revival architecture in the United States.

Remarkably well preserved, much of the credit for its current state of repair falls to the families who have lived here and carefully adapted and preserved the home through the intervening decades.

Christmas Past at the Bragg-Mitchell MansionStep back in time to a Christmas past – one without Scrooge and his ghosts – at the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion, one of Mobile, Alabama’s most celebrated antebellum mansions!

For many, the best part of the Christmas season is all of the beautiful lights and decorations that go up seemingly every where, bringing cheer and good holiday spirit to all who look upon them. It’s a tradition that has gone on for time out of mind, since before there were strings of electric lights, plastic snowmen, and glowing, inflatable Santas.

The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion, decked out for the holidays in vintage style during the month of December each year, provides a look back to one of these earlier, simpler Christmas eras.
