The Hank Aaron Childhood Home and MuseumHank Aaron, one of baseball’s most iconic figures, had his humble beginnings right here in Mobile, Alabama. You can visit those early days and more at the Hank Aaron Childhood Home and Museum!

Hank Aaron’s achievements are legend and continue to cast a long shadow on the sport to this very day. His beginnings, however, were as humble as one can get. Much of his early days and career have been preserved and are on display at the Hank Aaron Childhood Home and Museum.

The museum, located appropriately enough at Hank Aaron Stadium, home of the Mobile BayBears, is the original Aaron family home. Hank’s father, Herbert, built the house in 1942. Initially, it consisted of just three small rooms. Later additions expanded it to its current seven rooms. The house was moved from its original location to Hank Aaron Stadium in 2008.

Visitors to the museum will be welcomed by the voice of “Hammerin’ Hank” relating stories of living in Mobile and playing baseball as a boy. There are displays detailing Mobile’s baseball history, the Aaron family, and of course Hank, himself.

You’ll see hundreds of pieces of memorabilia, including Aaron’s Gold Glove Award from 1957, the trophy for breaking the home run record, and the Hammer’s original Louisville Slugger bat design!

The museum layout provides a chronological overview of Aaron’s baseball career. You’ll see his childhood and the local teams he followed, learn about his time with the Negro League, and finish up with his Major League Baseball career.

The Hank Aaron Childhood Home and Museum does a beautiful job of tracing this iconic baseball hall of famer’s career arc. Baseball fans owe it to themselves to stop by and enjoy the experience!
