The Mobile Museum of Art (MMofA) popular, quarterly MMofA Night Market events have each been larger and more exciting than the last. September's MMofA Night Market will mark the first year anniversary with over 30 different vendors selling their unique, handmade items in the museum's atrium: artisans and craftspeople, painters, ceramicists, woodworkers and more.
With attendance reaching well into the multiple hundreds, the MMofA Night Market has become a popular Mobile tradition for both locals and visitors. Jewelry, paintings, sculpture, soaps, fresh produce, fiber arts, baked goods, clothing, home decor, and much more will be on display and for sale. The only requirement of each vendor being that all works must be original and hand-made.
Who wouldn't enjoy the opportunity to peruse and purchase fine and unique items while supporting local artists? Oh, and did I mention the entertainment and refreshments?
The MMofA Night Market also owes some of its popularity to the entertainment and refreshments that are also part of the event: live music, food, and drink from local providers make up the balance of the evening's attraction. Last May's MMofA Night Market saw Alabama's own
Emily Stuckey on stage, with donated beer and wine on sale along with eats provided by
Geaux Boy and
Frios Gourmet Popsicle food trucks. Delicious!
The best part? The MMofA Night Market is a FREE event and attendees are invited to peruse the museum galleries during the event.
The Mobile Museum of Art is the largest art museum on the Gulf Coast with 95,000 square-feet of galleries and archives containing more than 10,000 works of art from American, European, Asian, and African sources. MMofA hosts special and regional exhibitions as well as events like the MMofA Night Market with the mission of supporting the creative community and fostering artistry of all kinds.
Don't miss it!
