SouthSounds 2019, Mobile AL's annual Music and Arts Festival, is bringing over 70 artists to 16 different downtown venues in the Azalea City - April 12th through the 14th, 2019.
SouthSounds Music and Arts Festival began in 2011 as a platform for independent and up-and-coming Southern music and art. That first concert was a great success and lead to an annual succession of festivals, each larger and more exciting than the last.
SouthSounds 2019 looks like it will continue the streak with more than 70 artists. Bands like Of Montreal, Corey Smith, J Roddy Walston & The Business, Dumpstaphunk, and Surfer Blood, to barely scratch the surface. Though the festival lineup favors indie rock, it is intentionally eclectic. You may hear country, bluegrass, metal, soul, funk, blues, r&b, hip-hop, and more.
Again, the point of SouthSounds Music and Arts Festival is to promote not just independent but also emerging talent. This means you may not know the names of many of the groups before you arrive but you sure will after the show. Who knows, you may just find your new favorite band!
SouthSounds Music Fest takes place at various venues around downtown Mobile, AL. This year's event currently includes 3 outdoor stages and 13 indoor venues. With so much to potentially see and do, you'll want to collect the schedule and make sure you don't miss your favorite acts.
The festival title includes the word "art," and not just for show. SouthSounds Festival weekend always includes lots of special art and culture events, exhibitions, and happenings throughout Downtown Mobile. Cathedral Square hosts an art market filled to the brim with local artisans' unique offerings.
Come get a taste of the unique and quirky flavor of the South!
