Greater Gulf State Fair 2018 Rodeo and Stampede

Summer may be on its way out but that doesn't mean all the fun is over! The 2018 Greater Gulf State Fair is just around the corner: October 26th through November 4th, 2018. The Greater Gulf State Fair may be fairly young, as state fairs go, but what it lacks in age, it makes up for in size and fun! The event may only 63 years old but it has the distinction of being Alabama's largest state fair. The fair runs for a full ten days, transforming The Grounds into a miniature city. It has its own power grid, police and medical control center, restaurants, and more. Over 100,000 people come to the Greater Gulf State Fair every year. While it was created to serve of people of Lower Alabama, Lower Mississippi, and the Panhandle of Florida (thus the name) visitors are more than welcome to join in!

The annual Rodeo and Stampede is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, November 3rd and 4th. This event always brings out lots of folks with its high energy action. Luckily the grandstand offers over 2,000 seats! Farm to table enthusiasts will enjoy the agriculture and horticulture exhibitions in The Barn. Get up close and personal with 2,000-lb. cattle, award-winning hogs, hand-raised chickens, and more. A fair-fan favorite and deeply embedded part of state fair tradition.

There's no denying that the rodeo, stampede, and exhibits in the barn are the core of the state fair - but the Midway may be just as popular! The Greater Gulf State Fair boasts the biggest rides, fastest free falls, and craziest coasters around. The Midway features more than 30 adult amusement rides. Best of all, a Midway Access Pass gives you exit from the lines and unlimited rides all day, any day, for one price! Unfortunately, Midway rides are height restricted, so the little ones will have to sit this one out. Don't be sad, though. Family Land has 30 different rides just for the little ones - and that's not all. There are also games and a petting zoo!

You'll work up an appetite at a state fair this size - but that's ok. The Greater Gulf State Fair has you covered and then some with over 30,000 feet of dining space in the Chomping Grounds. Take a load off and dig in to some tasty fair food. This year's selection includes offerings from some of the area's amazing local food vendors. Yum! The Marketplace at the Grounds, found at the fair entrance, is another popular attraction. Vendors from all around come to show off and sell their wares. The Marketplace is always a fascinating cornucopia of tempting handmade and manufactured items. What a great opportunity to get some early holiday shopping done.
