You'll Go Nuts Over Alabama Pecan Festival 2017!

November is just a few weeks away and that means it is almost time for Alabama Pecan Festival 2017! If you love pecans - and who doesn't - you will not want to miss this 32 year-old Alabama tradition. November 3rd through the 5th, 2017 in Mobile, AL. When it comes to delicious desserts, pecan pie is hard to beat. Like pecan pie, Mobile's Alabama Pecan Festival is rich, sweet, and over way faster than you you want it to be. The Alabama Pecan Festival is 3 days of pecan pies, cook-offs, carnival rides, concerts, craft vendors, and the crowning of the new Alabama Pecan Festival Queen! Pecans have long been an important part of Alabama's annual crop. Pecans were started here in the early 1900's but didn't reach consistent market maturity until the 1940's. After that, the crops really started to take off. The annual festival is a simple salute to the success story of the Alabama pecan crop as well as the delicious little fruit that most of us think of as a nut: the pecan! The Alabama Pecan Festival is a family-friendly event held at Tillman's Corner Community Center in Mobile, AL. The event has an old-timey carnival atmosphere complete with carnival rides, food, and fun. The grandstands will be ringing with free concerts all festival, too. Acts have yet to be announced but past festivals have seen excellent, live tributes to Roy Orbison, The Platters, and many regional acts. This is one festival you'll want to save your appetite for. Beyond all the delicious pecan pies and dishes, you'll also see a number of cook-offs as local chefs vie to win over your taste buds. There will be bbq cook-offs, burger cook-offs, chili cook-offs, and others. Speaking of cook-offs, if you have a taste for pecan pies, you do not want to miss this event! Literally hundreds of pecan pies will be available at the Alabama Pecan Festival. Your winter diet is just going to gave to wait its turn.
