Chickasabogue Park, is located along Chickasaw Creek in Eight Mile, AL just 15 minutes from
Malaga Inn in downtown Mobile.
The park has more than 17 miles of hiking and biking trails. Most of the trails are single track and away from the park's developed areas, allowing for wildlife sightings.
Canoes can be rented daily, allowing you to meander up and down Chickasaw Creek, relax on a sandbar, or do some fishing. The creek contains plenty of fish, including bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, pickerel, flounder, and redfish. Fishing from shore will bring you success but a canoe will take you closer to the Mobile River and better fishing.
A roped-off area with a white sandy beach provides for safe swimming in Chickasaw Creek's clear and refreshing, ice-cold waters.
Other facilities at the park include volleyball and basketball courts, horseshoe pits, softball fields, playground equipment, and even a stage.
The park also offers a championship, 36-hole, disc golf course sanctioned by the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA). This extremely popular course winds through wooded and open areas for a variety of challenging shots.
There are plenty of places to picnic in the park, with lots of grills, picnic tables, and pavilions. Tables are available on a first-come basis, while picnic pavilions should be reserved in advance.
Chickasabogue Park is also home to Alabama's oldest Methodist/Episcopal church. The building is now a museum containing exhibits and artifacts from local Native American groups, French, Spanish, and English colonial artifacts, and plantation-era memorabilia.
